Nina Vaca, Chairman and CEO of Dallas-based Pinnacle Group, recently received the Impacto Latino Award. The honor recognized her many contributions and positive influence on the Latino business community. The award was given at United Nations Headquarters and presented by the PVBLIC Foundation. This group is an innovative non-profit media entity that seeks to harness the power of the media to enact social change.
The award is just the latest in numerous recognitions bestowed upon Vaca, whose Latina roots hail from Ecuador, the country from which her parents immigrated to the United States. Vaca founded her company at age 25 with just $300 cash. In the past 22 years, it has grown into one of the nation’s – and the world’s – most successful staffing agencies.
The remarkable rise of Pinnacle Group as a major player in its sector is a classic American success story. Vaca was raised in Los Angeles, where her father established a travel agency. His untimely death required a teenage Vaca and her sister to take the reigns of the family business. She and her sister managed to not only keep the business afloat but make it thrive.
Vaca has never forgotten her roots. She is a person with first-hand knowledge of the challenges that Latina women face working in what is still largely a man’s world. Taking charge, growing a company, and expanding it to command an international presence is a remarkable achievement.
But Vaca has never left others behind. Through her philanthropic organization, the Nina Vaca Foundation, she has made significant contributions, often focused on extending a helping hand to people of Latino heritage. Her work has found a natural resonance with the goals and mission of the PVBLIC Foundation. Vaca expressed her pride and gratitude for the honor.
